Well, I'm not really new.. I've just been away for pretty much 2 years. I changed careers to a new company where I make less money and have less scheduling flexibility. HOWEVER, I'm planning on making a return! A short middle of the week trip in a couple of weeks.

My questions:

What's changed in the last 2 years? I remember reading about AB closing down due to drug issues. Did they ever open back up? If not, is there anybody providing competition to the HK conglomerate?

I see the USD-MXN rate has tanked. Did HK and BT adjust their posted exchange rates?

Well I think quite a bit has changed but I maybe not the guy to comment on it but from what I read guys get excited if they can find a girl for only $80 for 30 minutes. It's often that you might get a request for $100 to $150 for 30 minutes and most of the businesses are very slow now. I read about guys talking about being a buyer's market yet seems like they still pay $100 for 30 minutes. The hotels have changed their prices so that more or less end up being close to $200 for a room and a girl for 30 minutes.  Just a few days ago I read were the management is instructing the girls to charge for $150 for 30 minutes and I think we all realize that's because they would prefer the girls to be downstairs selling drinks then going up to the room. But hey the Hong Kong limousine is still free.

AB has been closed since February or March of last year, I believe. No signs of it opening back up anytime soon. Several chicas that used to work there migrated over to the Chicago club, so it’s worth popping in over there to take a look. Once in a while they have some nice options.

HK/BT have their conversion rate posted at 16x1.

30 minute ST room fee is $40 at HK & BT. $20 at Chicago, but their rooms are pretty plain looking. Your best bang for your buck is to buy the HK VIP card and go on a Monday or Tuesday when the deluxe single rooms will only run you $26 per day. Master suites just under $40 as well.

On average most bar girls are quoting $120/30 minutes since the dollar is weak. Don’t be afraid to throw $100 offers, there are plenty who will accept. Chicks with GPS will probably quote you $150, possibly higher. It’s your money so do as you please. I set my max at $120, but that’s just me.

Spot on.  It's been more than a while yet?  I remember the days, both AB and HK, $60 buckaroos for some fantastic lays.  The chicas were into it also but alas things have changed and not  good.

I'm very happy with my civie.  Sure things come up from time to time, little emergencies, but real, not fabrications.

The times we spend together while her hands work miracles on my back, so darn worth every centavo and she's more than happy to do it.  Zero BS, whatsoever and honest as the day is long.

My two cents worth.... plan on having your sessions with escorts rather than bar girls. Fine to have a few drinks at HK, Tropical or CC, but you will literally get more bang for your buck with an escort. I don't use escorts on a regular basis in TJ, since I have sand at the beach at my place in TJ with a long-time civi GF... but, I recommend using one of the well-established escort services like Sampson's Mexico Lindo Bar, Musas, Grey's Girls etc.

That said, you may meet a BG that you have good chemistry with and is up for a date OTC....

Like the US, everything in TJ is more expensive, and with the peso being strong vs the dollar, that has not helped.

If you get a room at Cascadas or Rizo you are given an hour before staff comes knocking. You are supposed to tell the girl that you have a room and that the arriba is not for 30 minutes. Don't accept anything less than 45 minutes, obviously don't say an hour or they'll expect more. Just say you have a room and the arriba is not for half hour. It helps when they have a ficha or two in them, although those have gone up too. $11 fichas 🤦🏻‍♂️

I think Chicago is better during the evening but acknowledge there are times earlier in the day where Chicago is low quality compared to HK.

my tj visits are few now... too many rules now and much more dinero. 

 

planning my next SEAtrip. it ain't as convenient as tj but lots more experience for the money.

Another big change (for me at least) is Chavelas now serves as the bullpen for Hong Kong. Chavelas used to be my favorite zona bar because of the more relaxed atmosphere, even if it didn't have the top notch 18-23 year olds. Chavelas didn't have the plastic chicas with exaggerated fake butts and tits. I guess if you preferred Hong Kong to Chavelas (like most on here from what I can tell) it won't matter and the atmosphere is still more relaxed.

One strange thing is that when I was there last Hong Kong would have long lines to get in and Chavelas would have no line. But they are connected, so I guess people just haven't figured that out yet.

The worst part about Adelitas closing is that none of the lesser bars seem to have improved IMO. You can still find a hidden gem in Golden Palace or la Carreta, but that was always the case. The only bars that maybe have gotten some of the Adelitas spillover is Tropical and Chicago. Maybe La Gloria is a little better, not sure what others think. I have always liked La Gloria but not many beautiful chicas. 

I fear in another 10 years la zona will just be Hong Kong.

I was there for the Chavelas as warm-up area change. I too missed stand-alone Chavelas due to the change of pace from HK proper it provided.

I'm concerned about the cost increases, but I guess that's the way it is. We'll see how it is in 1.5 weeks. There are options all around the world, without going to SEA even.

It's still the rule however very loosely enforced I did see somebody forced to buy one just this week. I think 95% of the time you cross without buying the permit.

I didn't have to pay this past Monday,  but I had to fill out the forms for the first time in many, many months. I believe they were toeing the line because of the scrutiny caused by the surfer murders. Have to see how it goes Monday when I cross again.

I prefer Chavelas much more now that it has been connected to HK. Maybe I never knew the best times to go into Chavelas when it was separate but whenever I did loop around in their every single fucking chick had their face glued to their phone. Made zero attempt to make eye contact or grind on you or stick their ass out somehow for attention. They were literally brain dead lazy ass zombies. 
 

Nowadays I like to pop in to Chavelas for a calmer environment, order my beers from Chavelas, enter Chavelas vs Main HK entrance although I learned with the ViP card you have an express private entry lane. Most of all I like when the chicas all line up to enter HK, or have a couple fichas with the putas during their mandatory hour in Chavelas, it seems to cheer them up. The music also makes me feel like I'm actually in Mexico, but not when it is glaring loud and annoying.

Bingo. HK is too loud, too much in your face. It's great to do a lap or two in HK, but Chavelas is better.

The loudest for me has been Chavelas, but it is rare when they have the music blaring. It hurts my freaking ears and you are literally shouting during a ficha.

I would have to say exactly the opposite. These days i consider it to be the room HK girls are forced to go  before starting work at HK. And hence a great place to catch up on their  phones before starting the real work.

I liked the old Chavelas much better. I have no memory of girls only focused on their phones. But then maybe I used to go there before the cell phone was invented.
